Welcome to the Bwindi Community Kids and Children with Disability Empowerment Initiative. We are a charitable organization based in Bwindi Buhoma, Kanungu District, Southwestern Uganda. Registered with the government of Uganda, our vision is to transform the lives of orphans, vulnerable children, and the elderly who have lost parents and caretakers due to wildlife attacks, anti poaching patrols, HIV/AIDS, divorce, wars, and poverty. We achieve this through comprehensive care, education, safe housing, and medical care.
Since our inception in 2022, we have provided support to 80 children of all ages, starting from as young as 4 years old. Our commitment is steadfast we aim to support these kids until they become self-sufficient, which might be after attaining a reasonable education and securing a job to sustain themselves and their communities. Our dedication to these children’s futures is unwavering, and we strive to offer them the best possible start in life.
Our plan is to have a dedicated excellent local school that will help us to increase the enrolment of children in school and that will accommodate around 207-300 children.
We invite you to volunteer with us and experience the transformation first hand by participating in lifechanging activities at the Bwindi Community Kids Centre. Volunteering offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with the children through outreaches, missions, education, and sensitization programs. By joining our team, you can be a life-changer, helping us to support various programs and activities that have a profound impact on these young lives.
You can also make a lasting impact by sponsoring a child. For just $50 per month for a child in primary boarding school or $30 per month for a child in primary day schooling, you can provide education, food, clothing, and medical care. Your sponsorship will help us create lasting change in the lives of children at our community kids centre, giving them the resources they need to thrive.
Our story is rooted in a deep compassion and a desire to make a difference. “No one chooses to be poor or an orphan. These circumstances often happen beyond our control, yet we strive to make a difference,” says our founder, Tweheyo Simon. Inspired by his own struggles growing up in a poor family, Simon founded the Bwindi Community Kids and Children with Disability Empowerment Initiative in 2022 after encountering destitute and disabled children during a visit to villages around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Their cries for help and education deeply moved him, driving him to take action and create this initiative.
We believe in the power of good hearted people to make a difference, just as they have in Simon’s life. By coming together, we can give hope to the hopeless and transform lives, providing a brighter future for the most vulnerable among us. Join us on this journey and help us continue our mission of empowerment and support.
